RBC presentation at JMU arboretum rescheduled

The RBC Birding 101 presentation, originally scheduled for February 7, has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 18, at 11:00 a.m. at the Frances J. Plecker Education Center at the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum. The program will consist of an overview of local birds and birding hotspots, featuring tips on birding for beginners and a brief exploration outdoors to listen and look for birds.

The three presentations scheduled for February 7 were not able to be rescheduled on the same day, so please consult the arboretum’s event calendar for a complete list of upcoming events.

VSO Scholarships, Grants and Awards

The Virginia Society of Ornithology is happy to announce that applications can now be submitted for 2026 Outreach Awards.  Information about the application, and links to stories about successful awards in prior years, and contact information, can be found here under outreach https://www.virginiabirds.org/scholarships-grants. The due date is September 1, however we are able to make awards earlier for compelling reasons. Please share this information with organizations and individuals in Virginia who could benefit from this award.
