Meetings
The RBC was founded in 1974 for the purpose of encouraging the study, enjoyment and protection of birds. Informative programs are held monthly on the second Thursday of the month from September to June in the Fellowship Hall of Park View Mennonite Church. The membership consists of amateur and professional birders and is open to anyone interested in birds as a vital part of our natural heritage.
Events
RBC sponsors a variety of field trips throughout the year. See the monthly schedule here. We take half-day and all-day field trips to see birds locally and in neighboring states.
Annual Bird Counts: The RBC participates in the Audubon Christmas Bird Count (December), the Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch (fall), Rockingham Waterfowl and Raptor Count (February) and the Great Backyard Bird Count (February).
The RBC raises money for bird conservation projects through its annual bird seed sale and modest dues.
