Bird Seed Sale Day - Chuck Kahler Welcome back everyone and guess what… that also makes it Bird Seed sale time again. We have done very well in the past years, thanks to all of you, and I am sure it will continue. This will be my last year as your Co-Chairman of BSSD. Cliff Lind has graciously agreed to take over my spot and I know he will be well supported from all our members. Our Sale pick-up day will be Saturday, October 11 at the Wetsels warehouse on North Liberty from 8 AM-1 PM. The order forms will be in the mail to you no later than September 8, and the deadline for returning your orders is October 1. It is important to meet this deadline as we have to give the order to Wetsels and that gives them only 10 days to have it delivered, so please try and get your order in before the deadline. Also we are short on regular Bluebird houses and the Peterson type house. If anyone is interested in building these houses let me know (432-1847 or cbkahler@verizon.net). We need a total of about 8 ea. Thank you for your past and continued support._ Chuck Kahler, Cliff Lind and Ralph Gibson. |
President's Message - Kay Gibson Welcome to a new year of the Bird Club meetings. I have a new job this year as president. I will need all of the help I can get. Of course that hasn't changed. I have always needed your help and you have been very generous with your time and talent. I want to bring some of the history of our club to the meetings this year. I have inherited a lot of information for the history of the club. As for myself and many of you that do not know the history of the club this will be fun to look back. Then there are those of you who have helped to make the history of our club. We hope to hear some of your stories too. This is an exciting time of the year as the warblers are moving south, and the droves of blackbirds are darkening the skies. Don't forget the Hawk Watch at Afton. They need your help. We will have many fields trips, and some will be new ones. I'm hoping to add many new life birds to my list. Maybe you can too. |
