FEBRUARY MEETING
DATE: Thursday, February 1, 2007 – Carry-in Dinner
TIME: 6:00 PM -Note time and place change!
PLACE: First Presbytarian Church, Harrisonburg

PROGRAM:
This month will be a carry-in dinner at 6:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church
on Court Square. There will be plenty of parking. If you haven't called me, PLEASE do so NOW
at 249-5287. I'm expecting at least 60 to attend, so don't be left out. Lance and Jill Morrow will
have our program. They are going to talk about the raptor/observation station that they established
this past fall near New Market. By popular demand they will bring the falcon with them. Their talks
are so interesting and informative. Don't miss it. - Kay Gibson

Field Trips – Tom Mizell
Saturday, February 10 - Highland County Golden Eagles -Tom Lord will lead a trip west to
Highland County in search for Golden Eagles and Rough-legged Hawks. Meet at 7:00 AM at the
Bridgewater United Methodist Church parking lot. Dress warmly and bring a snack. Please Call
Tom Lord at 828-1226 if you plan to go.
Thursday, February 15 - Hillandale Park - This is the tentative date scheduled for our monthly walk.
Meet at Hillandale Park at the children's play area parking lot at 9:00 AM across from the cabin.
The temperatures were in the 60s for the December walk. Temperatures for January's walk were in the
30s with snow flurries. What will the weather be like for February's walk? Join us and find out.
Saturday, March 24 - Lake Moomaw - We will usher in spring with John Irvine leading us on a trip
to Bath County to Lake Moomaw. We will also be birding through Highland County. Alternate date is
March 31. More details in March newsletter.

Rockingham Bird Club Book Club - Maureen Gallagher-McLeod
The BCBC will meet at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the home of Elizabeth Ihle.
We will discuss the book, A Pine Island Paradox: Making Connections in a Disconnected World by
Kathleen Dean Moore. A shared dinner contributed by all who attend and a discussion about the book
will take place during the evening. If you are interested, contact Maureen at famcleod@earthlink.net
or call 896-9541. Anyone is welcome to participate!
